European Hyperloop Center to host world’s largest hyperloop student competition: the European Hyperloop Week

Veendam, Netherlands – The European Hyperloop Center will be the host of the next edition of the European Hyperloop Week. This event, the world’s largest hyperloop student competition, is set to take place at the European Hyperloop Center facility in Veendam – Province of Groningen – exactly one year from now.

The European Hyperloop Center (EHC) features a 420-meter hyperloop test tube capable of demonstrating all essential hyperloop technologies, including a full lane switch. It is an open hyperloop test facility that welcomes organizations to test their technologies, as well as being the facility for hyperloop competitions.

The European Hyperloop Week (EHW) is an annual international event celebrating transportation innovation. It brings together a diverse group of around 600 students and 1500 other individuals, all passionate about the Hyperloop concept. EHW serves as a platform for teams worldwide to showcase their hyperloop prototype systems and share the latest advancements in full-scale hyperloop research, both socio-economically and technically.

Following successful editions in Valencia, Edinburgh, Delft, and last week in Zurich, the EHW will mark its presence at the EHC facilities in Groningen in July 2025. It serves a dual role as both a competition, recognizing outstanding research and prototype development, and a conference, facilitating keynotes and expert discussions on the future of the latest hyperloop technology.

The EHC is part of a European Research Infrastructure Cluster, in which EHC collaborates with the DemoTube facility (120 meters) from EuroTube in Zurich, at which this year’s edition of the EHW was hosted.

"We are thrilled to host the European Hyperloop Week at the European Hyperloop Center in Veemdam," said Stefan Marges, Director of the European Hyperloop Center. "Our facility is designed to foster the developments of the hyperloop ecosystem, and we look forward to seeing the innovative prototypes and research that will be showcased”

“Our collaboration with industry partners, including the use of DemoTube in Zürich this year and in 2022 the test tube from Hardt Hyperloop in Delft, highlights our commitment to applicable innovation.” Said Mario Padron, technical lead from the European Hyperloop Week. “Hosting the European Hyperloop Week at the European Hyperloop Center in 2025 provides us with an exciting opportunity to enhance the event's overall quality and global reach, strengthen partnerships, and promote the exchange of hyperloop advancements.”
